Recipe for Fried Chicken

Ingredients

1 whole chicken

1 cup buttermilk

Cooking oil

3 cups all purpose flour

2 tablespoons garlic powder

1 tablespoon cinnamon powder

2 tablespoons black pepper

2 tablespoons crushed ginger

 2-3 tablespoons of salt

Method

1.    Wash and divide the chicken into four or eight pieces

2.    Boil for a few minutes if you are using free range chicken.

3.    In a bowl, combine a cup of flour, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of black pepper, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of salt.

4.    In another bowl, make a paste by combining the buttermilk, 2 cups of flour, and the remaining garlic, cinnamon, black pepper, crushed ginger and salt. Mix thoroughly and let it settle for a few minutes for the spices to blend in.

5.    Dust the chicken pieces by placing them in the first bowl one at a time.

6.    Deep the dusted chicken pieces in the paste turn over to ensure each piece is thoroughly coated.

7.    In a deep frying pan, heat oil and place the pieces inside to fry for 15 minutes or until the coating turns brown.  

8.    Remove the chicken from the oil and drain

9.    Your fried chicken is ready
