Recipe for Biscuits

Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour

½ teaspoons salt

1 tablespoon baking powder

¾ cup milk

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

½ cup shortening (cold) – Refrigerate a few hours prior baking

Method

1.      Sieve the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into a bowl.

2.      Grate the cold shortening into the flour mixture to form coarse crumbs.

3.      Gently blend the mixture together, no need to knead.

4.      Pour milk into the mixture stirring gently with a fork to a soft and moist consistency.

5.      Transfer the dough to a floured surface, at this point, your dough will be a little sticky

6.      Dust the dough with a little flour to get rid of the stickiness

7.      Roll out the dough into ½ inch thick sheets and cut out into preferred shape and sizes. Do not twist the cutter as this will prevent the biscuits from rising.

8.      Place in a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes under a temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit
