Recipe for Bread

Ingredients

1 ½ teaspoons of active yeast

1 tablespoon of salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups warm water

6 cups flour

3 tablespoons of sugar for baking and ½ tablespoon for proofing the yeast

Method

1. In a bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in the warm water and let it rest for five minutes or until bubbles appear on the surface.

2. In a separate bowl, sieve the sugar, flour and salt and mix evenly.

3. Add the olive oil into the yeast and stir, add in the flour mixture beating gently, as the dough thickens, start kneading it to a soft consistency.

4. Place the dough in a greased bowl ensuring all the sides of the dough are greased then cover for not less than an hour or until it has doubled in size.

5. Punch down the dough and divide in two equal parts.

6. Place your shaped dough in greased loaf pans and cover again until the dough has doubled in size.

7. Bake your bread at 375 degrees for 25- 35 minutes or until golden brown.
