Recipe for Butter Chicken

Ingredients

A whole chicken divided into 8 or more pieces according to your liking

250g butter

2 tablespoons crushed ginger and garlic paste

1 tablespoon of cooking oil

Salt

1 tablespoon of turmeric powder

½ cup curd

1 teaspoon vinegar

1 tablespoon Garam Masala

½ tablespoon sugar

¼ cup lemon juice

1 tablespoon of Chicken Masala

1 large onion

¼ cup coriander leaves

3 medium sized ripe tomatoes pureed

1 cup of Water

½ cup of cream

1 tablespoon of peanut butter  

 

Method

1.      Place the chicken in a large bowl and add in 1 tablespoon ginger and garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt, curd, chicken masala and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly and allow to marinade for 15- 20 minutes.

2.      In the meantime, heat a skillet under medium heat and add in two tablespoons of butter

3.      Add in the marinated chicken and fry for a few minutes or until a nice golden brownish color is formed.

4.      Set aside the chicken.

5.      Heat another skillet and melt the cooking oil

6.      Add in the onions and fry until translucent in color

7.      Add in the pureed tomatoes and cook for a few minutes, add in the peanut butter and mix until it has blended in the gravy then add one cup of water.

8.       Add in 1 tablespoon of the Garam masala, sugar, coriander leaves, vinegar, 1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste and salt.

9.      Mix well and allow to boil for a few minutes.

10.  Remove the gravy from heat and set aside.

11.  Place another clean skillet on medium heat and melt  4 tablespoons of butter

12.  Add in the gravy and mix well, add in 2 tablespoons of butter, add in the cream and mix until the mixture has blended well.

13.  Add in the chicken and mix thoroughly, reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes.

14.  Serve your buttered chicken as desired.
