Recipe for Doughnuts

Ingredients

½ kg self raising flour

½ cup of milk powder

2 tablespoons sugar

250g butter

1 cup warm milk

4 egg yolks

1 tablespoon yeast

1 tablespoon salt

Oil

Method

1. Sieve the flour into a bowl, sieve in the sugar, milk powder, salt and yeast.

2. Add in the butter and rub it into the mixture

3. Add in the yolks and fold in

4. Add in the warm milk and knead gently to form dough

5. When the dough has been formed, sprinkle a little oil on top and cover.

6. Set aside for an hour and allow to rise

7. Divide the flour into two and roll out each piece into 1 inch thickness

8. Use a doughnut cutter to cut out doughnuts pieces and set them on a dusted tray

9. Cover the tray let the doughnuts rest for 15 minutes ( until the doughnuts have doubled in size)

10. Heat oil in a deep frying pan

11. When the oil has heated to the correct deep frying temperature, put in the dough and cook until the underside turns golden brown.

12. Flip and cook the other side the same way

13. Drain the doughnuts

14. Transfer to a plate and garnish as desired

15. Serve with hot tea or chocolate!
