Recipe for Pizza

The recipe for Pizza included below utilizes beef topping; you can replace this with your preferred topping.

 

Ingredients

1 teaspoon sugar

1½ teaspoon dry yeast

¼ minced beef

1 medium sized onion diced

4 cups all purpose flour

1 green / red pepper sliced

2 cups warm water

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil/ canola oil

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups (16 ounces) tomato sauce

2 cups shredded cheese

½ teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon ground garlic

 

Method

1.    Prepare the sauce and set aside to allow the different flavors to blend: In a bowl, pour the tomato sauce and add in the basil and a tablespoon of olive oil. The mixture should rest for at least 30 minutes.

2.    In a separate bowl, pour warm water and add in the sugar and yeast. Stir and allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes.

3.    Add in the salt and oil, stir and fold in the flour then knead until you form soft dough.  

4.    Place the dough in a greased bowl and turn it to ensure all the sides of the dough are greased.  Cover and let it rise to double its original size.

5.     In a pan, brown the minced beef, add in the onions and garlic stirring until cooked then set aside.

6.    When the dough is set, press or punch it down then divide it into two equal parts.  Grease two pizza pans and press each half into a pan and spread until the whole pan is covered.

7.    Stir your sauce and spread it evenly. Top with the cooked beef, green/red pepper and cheese.

8.    Bake at 200 degrees Celsius or 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes or until the crust turns to a brownish color.
