Recipe for Scones

Ingredients

1 cup all purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter

¼ cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon sugar

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

2 eggs

Method

1. In a bowl, combine the sugar, flour, salt and baking powder and mix thoroughly.

2. Add in the butter and rub it in.

3. In a separate bowl, beat in one egg and add in the cream and whisk.

4. Add in this mixture to the flour mixture, turn the mixture until the flour starts holding together.

5. Transfer to a floured surface and knead the dough to a point where it barely holds together. Do not knead the dough to a firm mixture as this will harden the scones.

6. Roll out the dough and cut out the desired shapes.

7. Prepare the egg wash with the remaining egg: beat the egg in a cup and add in one tablespoon of water. Dip a brush into the egg wash and slightly brush the top of each scone.

8. Bake the dough for 15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit .

9.   Remove the scones and serve warm or cooled with your favorite topping
